Typo Theme #1
I’m not always the best at budgeting my time, and so, the night before the final deadline for the Typo theme contest, I’m not sure if I’ll finish the CSS for my second theme.
But I have finished the CSS for my first theme, Indiestripes. I hope you like it. It comes in three flavors, as it were: Seattle (a muted brown, teal, and grey color scheme), Fruit Salad (bright pink and orange), and Beach House (bright turquoise and green).
I haven’t just themed the layout and then changed a couple colors and left the rest as-is. I tried to create a very consistent overall feel, right down to the typography and especially the comment area. I’ve overriden a number of partials, including the display of comments and the comment form itself. You can see full-size screenshots of Seattle here (main part of the page) and here (comments and comment form).
If you’re interested in downloading Indiestripes, you can grab the zip file here. (For the full effect, you’ll need Typo 2.6.0.)
I really like this design. Most of the other themes are too specific or complex to apply as a default theme. This one, however, is very simple and the customized colors can work with nearly any blog.
Tell me about it ! It nearly drove me mad to create a theme for the contest, running Typo with Webrick !!! I had to restart it every time I reefreshed the browser… Without Locomotive (bundled environment for OS X) I’d have lost my sanity for good…
Good work Amy, I really like this theme! 🙂
Looks really nice and cool flavors
I am well versed with css but how does one go about creating these themes? do you handcode them or are there any tools that prefessional designers use??
I thout to do it in my local version!
I think it would be usefull for other users also 🙁
i am not sure as to why.
